When a card deposit is declined, your card company or the payment provider didn't approve the payment. You aren't charged for a declined payment, and nothing is added to your account.
What you might see
We show you the reason for a decline when we receive one. Card companies often give only a general reason, though, so the message may not say exactly what went wrong.
- "Please select a different card network" on the card page. That card brand isn't available for this deposit right now, so use a card of another brand.
- "This payment link is invalid or has expired." Start again from Deposit Funds in your client area.
Why cards are declined
- The card doesn't have 3D Secure. We accept only cards with 3D Secure. Your card company can tell you whether your card is registered for it.
- The card details were entered incorrectly. Check the card number, the expiry date and the security code (CVV).
- The security check didn't finish. After you enter your card details, your card company's security check opens. Keep the browser open and wait until it finishes, because closing or leaving the page stops the payment. If a one-time code is sent to you, enter it as soon as it arrives.
- Your card company blocked the payment. Many card companies block payments made overseas, in a foreign currency or online.
- There isn't enough available credit. The card's available credit or balance, or its payment limit, may be lower than the amount. Some cards are billed in US dollars, and your card company converts the charge at its own rate, usually with a mark-up. The charge can then be a little more than the amount you entered, so a ¥10,000 deposit may need slightly more than ¥10,000 of available credit. If your credit is close to the amount, try a smaller deposit.
- The card brand is unavailable right now. If one brand keeps failing, check the Credit Card option on the deposit page. It shows which brands are available at the moment.
What to do
- Check your card details and try again. Keep the browser open until the security check finishes.
- Check that the card has enough available credit, with a little to spare if it's billed in US dollars, and that it accepts online payments from overseas. Your card company can allow these if they're blocked.
- Try a different card, ideally of a different brand.
- Use another deposit method, such as Turbo Deposit or crypto. See How to deposit.
If it still doesn't work, contact support with the date, the amount, the card brand and the first 6 and last 4 digits of the card number. We'll check the status of the payment for you. Never send your full card number or the security code (CVV).
