Expiry times run from 15 seconds to 24 hours, and there are two kinds:
- Short expiries (On-Demand), 15 seconds to 5 minutes: your trade starts the moment you buy and runs for the time you chose.
- Fixed-time expiries (Classic), 15 minutes to 24 hours: your trade ends at a set time on the clock, whatever time you buy.
Which ones you can choose depends on the asset and the trade type.
Short expiries (On-Demand)
15 seconds, 30 seconds, 1 minute, 3 minutes and 5 minutes. A short trade starts the moment you buy and expires that long afterwards.
Fixed-time expiries (Classic)
15 minutes, 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours, 4 hours and 24 hours. These trades expire at fixed times on the clock, whatever time you buy.
- 15 minutes comes in three series, numbered 1, 2 and 3. Each one expires every 15 minutes, five minutes apart from the others, so there's always one expiring soon.
- 30 minutes, 1 hour, 2 hours and 4 hours expire on the clock, for example 1 hour at the top of each hour.
- 24 hours is rolling: a new 24-hour trade starts at the top of every hour and runs for 24 hours.
- You can open a trade on a fixed-time expiry until 2 minutes before it expires. For example, a 15-minute trade that starts at 10:00 and expires at 10:15 can be opened until 10:13. In the last 2 minutes it's locked: you can't open a new trade on it or close one early. Choose the next expiry instead.
Which assets have short expiries
Short expiries (On-Demand) are only available on some assets:
- Synthetic indices: all of them, at any time.
- Currency pairs: seven pairs: EUR/USD, USD/JPY, EUR/JPY, GBP/JPY, AUD/USD, AUD/JPY and NZD/JPY, during their weekday trading hours.
- Cryptocurrencies: 5 minutes only.
All other assets have fixed-time expiries (Classic) only.
