How do I keep my account secure?

Your Zentrader account is protected by three things you control: your password, the email account you registered with, and the devices you stay signed in on. Look after those three and you've done most of the work. We're also adding more security features, including two-factor authentication, and they will depend on us being able to reach you, so the most useful thing you can do today is make sure the phone number and email address on your account are current.

Use a password you use nowhere else

Your password needs at least 8 characters, with an upper-case letter, a lower-case letter and a number. Length matters more than complexity, so a few unrelated words are better than a short word with a symbol. Don't reuse the password from your email, your bank or any other site: if one of them leaks, the others are open too. A password manager makes this painless.

You can change your password at any time from the Settings page in your client area, by entering your current password and a new one, or from the sign-in page if you've forgotten it. Either way signs you out of every device at once. See How to reset your password.

Protect the email account you registered with

Password reset links go to the email address on your account, so whoever can read that mailbox can get into your Zentrader account. Give the mailbox its own strong password and turn on two-step verification with your email provider, which almost all of them offer. If you lose access to that address or change it, tell us so we can move your account to the new one. See How to change your personal details.

Keep your phone number current, and your own

You verified a mobile number during the identity check. It has to be yours, not a family member's or a friend's, because it's how we confirm it's really you, and two-factor authentication will use it when it arrives. If you change number, tell us through the chat as soon as you can, so the number on your account is always one that reaches you.

Stay signed in only on your own devices

If you tick Remember this device when you sign in, that phone or computer stays signed in for a month. Only do this on a device that's yours and that nobody else unlocks. On a shared or public computer, leave it unticked and sign out when you've finished. Changing your password forgets every remembered device, which is also the quickest way to sign out everywhere if you lose a phone.

Never share your sign-in details

Nobody at Zentrader will ever ask for your password or a one-time code, and nobody else needs them either: not a "manager", not a signal group, not someone offering to trade for you. An account operated by someone else can be restricted under our terms, and any losses they make are yours. See Can Zentrader manage my account or teach me to trade? See What will Zentrader never ask me for?

Check your account now and then

Transaction History in your client area lists every deposit, withdrawal and trade. If you see anything you don't recognise, change your password first and then tell us through the chat. See How to download your statement and transaction history.

If you think someone else has access

  1. Change your password, from the Settings page or the sign-in page. That signs out every device straight away.
  2. Change your email account's password too, if there's any chance it was involved.
  3. Tell us through the chat what you noticed and when. We'll check the account with you and help you secure it.
  4. If you shared card details anywhere, call your card issuer. See How to report a suspicious message.
